Become a partner in a unique artistic and territorial venture

Ten years ago, at the instigation of the actor and director Jean Manifacier, Autrement Classique chose to put down roots in Briare and across the Berry Loire Puisaye intercommunal area, to develop an ambitious, inventive season of classical music, open to all.

Four years ago he was joined by the cellist Patrick Langot, and together they now share the leadership of the association.

Our conviction is simple: classical music is not reserved for an initiated audience. It can — and must — go out to meet those who do not spontaneously cross the threshold of concert halls.

We thus build original artistic proposals, both demanding and accessible, that bring together leading musicians around new forms: itinerant concerts, multidisciplinary creations, musical shows, film-concerts and open-air performances.

An itinerant festival at the heart of an exceptional heritage

The flagship event of the year is the intercommunal Autrement Classique Festival.

It opens with a spectacular concert on the Briare Canal Bridge (Pont-Canal) — a remarkable monument suspended above the Loire — then travels through six communes across eight concerts, before concluding on the Place de la République in Briare before more than 500 spectators.

The canal, the locks, the port of Briare, the gardens, the public squares and the churches become open-air stages. The music converses with the water, the stone and the landscape; heritage becomes a living setting.

A national artistic ambition

This season we welcome the Syntonia Quintet — a leading French chamber music ensemble — for a creation co-produced with Autrement Classique, as well as the Bateau Ivre quintet, the mezzo-soprano Karine Deshayes, the violist Sabine Toutain and the bassoonist Lola Descours, among others.

This project fully embodies our identity:

  • artistic excellence

  • innovation in formats

  • tangible ecology

  • closeness to audiences

  • territorial outreach

A project supported by institutions… and open to committed companies

We are supported by the Town of Briare, the Berry Loire Puisaye intercommunal area, the Loiret Department, the Centre-Val de Loire Region, La Loire au fil de l’eau, Spedidam, Adami and the DRAC.

But to take a new step forward, we need partner companies — based in the area or attached to its development — who wish to:

  • associate their image with an artistic project of excellence

  • support local cultural vitality

  • take part in a unifying and popular event

  • strengthen their local roots

  • showcase their social and environmental commitment

Why become a patron?

Supporting Autrement Classique means:

  • helping to democratise access to classical music

  • fostering the encounter between heritage, creation and innovation

  • contributing to the cultural and tourist appeal of the area

  • offering your staff and partners privileged artistic experiences

  • benefiting from the tax incentives associated with patronage

Beyond the advantages, it means joining a demanding, independent artistic and human adventure, deeply rooted in its territory.

Let us build what comes next, together

Autrement Classique is now entering a new phase of development.
Our ambition is clear: to make the festival a major artistic event, recognised beyond the region, while remaining true to its spirit of closeness and sharing.

We would be glad to meet you, to imagine together the form your commitment alongside us might take.
